Opening a Bank Account During Your Tour

In order to open a bank account during your tour you must send some information to the bank in Panama before your tour.

Must Be Sent to the Bank At Least 6 Days Before Your Tour

  • Bank reference letter dated on or after 23 days before your tour date.**
  • Copy of passport and driver’s license
  • Signed & completed bank application (provided 30 days before your tour)

If opening a joint bank account, each person will need to fill out the bank application separately.

Bank Reference Letter

This is simply a letter from your current bank stating when you opened the account with them and that your account is in good standing. The letter must be on bank letterhead and must be signed by a bank employee and have their contact information. The letter can not be signed by “Customer Service”.

We have found it’s easiest to visit your bank in person to obtain the reference letter.

Bring With You To The Bank

When you go to the bank to open your account, bring the following items with you:

  • Bank reference letter dated on or after 23 days before your tour date.
  • Login information for the bank in your reference letter.**
  • Your passport and driver’s license
  • Signed & completed bank application (provided 30 days before your tour)
  • $1,500 USD minimum deposit, cash only (no checks or cards accepted)
  • Last 2 years income tax forms (U.S. citizens IRS form 1040)
  • If from a country without income tax forms, contact the bank for instructions on how to prove income.

** During your appointment to open a bank account you will also be asked to log in to the online banking for the bank associated with your bank reference letter.
